Personally, I am interested in the Coupon/Check-in convergence. When people are checking in, give them a reason too. I think FourSquare should see huge revenue from this if they play their cards correct... What about a Groupon/FourSquare Merger? Going to be interesting to say the least.

With larger and more powerful phones and ipads, I also think that the web will continue to go more mobile. Real time satisfaction adn online/offline interaction will start to occur. Location will be everything...

Lastly, the article did not cover this, but mobile payments are here to stay as well. Square just got a huge round of cash nad others are spending tons of times on applications.

This is the year of walking into the local coffee shop, checking-in, getting a coupon for doing so, and then paying via a quick wave of the iphone...

Trying to blog a little more this year. I just updated the resources page with a TON of online marketing resources. More should be coming shortly as well. Also, I am going to try and make the page a little more usable soon.

Local Search 11/22/2009

I started to really get into local search. I am playing with a new project. Hope to see what I can do with it soon:

The more and more I learn, it is very interesting how much is turning towards local search. Watch out!

Well it is Sunday evening and I am trying to clean up my home work space. It has gotten very cluttered. If you do not read Zen Habits Blog, I recommend it. De-cluttering is huge.

Anyway, A few things this evening. As we talked about Google Analytics in Savannah, I had something come across email this week that I wanted to share. Over twenty custom tips on how to get more out of Google Analytics. Take a read here from Ann Smarty.

Additionally, I started reading Don't Make Me Think by Krug this week. I hope to have my thoughts on the book sometime this week. It is a very easy ready, but I threw my back out and it has been a long week to say the least.

Going to NYC in the next few weeks. If anyone has any good restaurants, please let me know.

Well I am back from Costa Rica!!! I can say this. I have seen some places, and done some things in my day, but Costa Rica takes the cake! Next person I here say they want to go to Vegas for a bachelor party, do your research. Costa Rica is legit. Anyway, now on to the fun!

Two weeks ago, there was a great discussion with some retailers I was with around how the Google Trademark policy worked for Google AdWords. After a few minutes, we discussed the eccentricities of the issue, and everyone was then on the same page. It was GREAT we got it all clear.....

Well my friends, it looks like the rules of the game are changing from what we talked about a few weeks back. As of June 15th the rules are changing. Per PPC Hero, a great paid search blog, they say, "if you sell a Name Brand ‘Something’ on an ad’s landing page, you can now use the Name Brand for that ‘Something’ in your ad. The change does NOT allow you to say “Name Brand Sucks” and direct searchers to your page about an Alternative Brand or anything of the sort."

For the full low down on all of the changes and what they will mean for your brand, Check it out here on the Google Adwords Blog.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email.

We recently spoke a lot about paid search, and in doing some recent reading, I found two articles that you should consider. Jupiter Research concluded in a 2007 study that only 21% of companies are completely satisfied with their PPC Firm. WOW! That will make you think twice. Having just gone through the process of looking for a great paid search person, I can tell you that they are hard to come by as well.

Article 1: 5 Things a PPC Firm does not want you to know

and

Article 2: PPC and Your Good Name

I had a very interesting conversation with quite a few people regarding bidding on Brand Names. As an aggressive search marketer, I believe in bidding on your competitors brand name...If you can get away with it.

I had the pleasure of speaking at the CommerceV3 conference over the weekend and met a lot of great business owners. They put on a first class event, being the first year, and I can say that CommerceV3 is lucky to have such great clients whom are all passionate about growing their online businesses.

If you attended the conference and want to get a copy of my presentation, or ask some general questions, please feel free to do so below. I am also going to update my links page with the links I included in my presentation.

Off to Costa Rica Thursday morning!
